I've been creating custom Stained Glass since 1980, when I began the art as a form of therapy after a sudden loss. Durning the next few years, through a company called Class Glass, I created several windows and commissioned pieces, which I hope have survived through floods and tornadoes. After Katrina, a group of volunteers that were gutting my workshop found several of my glass pieces and with that, I began a new chapter in glass art. The fragility and strength of this medium is compelling. I'm currently working on, of all things, a glass tree that I started several years ago, after another sudden loss. Pieces of it were also found in the mud and destruction of my workshop in St. Bernard.
It's easy to become absorbed in working on a glass project, and those little cuts you get from working in glass are a constant reminder that, as my Mom would say, you gotta suffer to be beautiful.
